When Tom first started home-brewing, it soon became my job to taste and evaluate each beer he brewed. As a wine drinker at heart this wasn’t always easy, but over time I learned to
appreciate the flavor and aroma of good craft beer. As we began to visit local breweries I found myself with less desire for the rich, robust taste of Cabernet and Merlot. Instead, dark ales, with their subtle hints of coffee and chocolate won me over.
Tom just finished bottling his first porter – Lion’s Dark Ale, and I can hardly wait to taste it! Meanwhile I’m excited that Hamilton’s Family Brewery is celebrating Black Friday by serving up flights of eight different dark beers. First on my list – Mint to Be, the beer formally known as Chocolate Candy Cane Stout. I can’t think of a more delicious way to kick off the holiday season!
